Hey, there! Welcome to August! This month The Pagan Perspective turns 10! This week we're talking about overlap between the Neopagan & New Age communities, and how we feel we are similar and different.

-- At 10:36 in this video I talk about the stance that everyone is their own spiritual authority, etc. Whenever this comes up I feel the need to mention that, typically, the ethical line drawn here is akin to the Rede, "An it harm none", or basically an idea of "as long as you're not hurting anyone." Of course what constitutes harm is another topic we cover from time to time... but basically, when certain groups like our communities say everyone has the right to their own beliefs, there's no one right way, etc. we are still thinking in terms of there being a limit to that.
-- At 19:33 I mention Universalism being cool with me. I was thinking in terms of how the word is used in Unitarian Universalism, where it refers to the earlier Christian theological idea that everyone, universally, will be "saved" (in other words, any "God" that we may believe in isn't picking and choosing people to save or damn, but rather all people are worthy and will be "saved"). This is not the only definition of Universalism, however: it can also refer to the idea that things can be applied universally to everyone... which I obviously do NOT agree with in most cases lol. So I wanted to clarify which Universalism I meant when I said that!
