RAM OVERCLOCK REALLY MATTERS! (Even On AMD X3D CPUs)
In this video we explore how RAM tuning impacts real gaming performance.
It’s often said that RAM doesn’t really make a difference with AMD’s X3D CPUs, thanks to the large amount of shared cache; but is that really the case?
🧪 TEST METHODOLOGY
In these tests, I’m comparing three RAM setups in AIDA64 (Latency test), 3DMark TimeSpy, Baldur's Gate 3 and The Witcher 3.
The first setup is the default JEDEC profile at 4800MT/s CL40, which is the standard frequency your RAM will run at right after installation. Then the EXPO profile, which is the factory “guaranteed” overclock from the manufacturer; in my case, the GSkill Flare X5 with Hynix A-Die chips running a solid 6000MT/s CL28. Finally, the optimized profile: after lots of trials and testing, I managed to push it to 6200MT/s, close to the max stable frequency for my motherboard and CPU, with much tighter secondary timings.
