I ordered the circuit boards and sourced the components myself.
I'm working on the wooden case now.
I modified the software slightly to add a lamp test on power-on and allow holding the settings buttons down to scroll through the rotor and mode settings.
The flickering of the letter lamp field during the self-test is an artifact of the camera shutter. The lamps all appear to light at once without flicker.
