In this Xcode 13 tutorial, I will talk about removing Storyboard from an iOS project. First let’s talk about why you would need to setup a new project without a Storyboard. I will create a new project with Storyboard setting. This creates a project that uses AppDelegate and SceneDelegate. Storyboards can become quite hard to work with over time. A better approach is to keep view controllers in separate files. A nice approach is the Coordinator pattern.

If you choose to create a project with the new SwiftUI lifecycle methods, you are limiting the support to iOS14+. Using AppDelegate/SceneDelegate setup will allow support for iOS 13+.

This tutorial was built using Xcode 13.3 and Swift 5.6
