We are pleased to present the completion of the Pacifico Golf Restoration project. The first phase of a massive undertaking to renew Punta Mita Golf.

Earlier this year, Punta Mita announced a crucial move intending to restore the development’s two Jack Nicklaus Signature Championship Golf Courses, Pacifico and Bahia, to their former glory.

The Punta Mita Golf Restoration Project is a five-year plan to reinvigorate the intrinsic experience that is golf for the Punta Mita way of life. Giving players the same breathtaking features with an enhanced feel.

A STRATEGIC PLAN

Home to the renowned, Tail of the Whale, the only natural island green in the world, Pacifico Golf Course leads the first phase of the restoration project. This stage, scheduled to be completed by November 2021, focuses on all 19 Pacifico greens, bunkers, surrounds; the conclusion of a tee replacement project; and re-grassing the course greens with TifEagle and surrounds with Trinity Zoysia.

Launching in April 2022, phase two will focus on the Bahia greens and surrounds, and completion of the tee boxes.

Plans for phases three and four tentatively include replacement of existing fairways with Trinity Zoysia grass seen in the tees and green surrounds. The strategic planning allows both courses to remain for play during the destination’s high season from November to April.

PRESERVING A MASTERPIECE

Many would say that restoring a golf course is like restoring a painting, a well-designed golf course is, after all, a work of art. So how do you preserve the identity of a masterpiece golf course?

You call in an artist, of course.

Led by original Nicklaus Design Senior Designer Jim Lipe, the project team will also include veteran Nicklaus Design course shaper Bob Rubideaux, who provided senior leadership during initial course construction for the Pacifico Golf Course and shaped the new driving range facility.

Additional updates include plans to construct a new clubhouse within the next few years as part of the Master Plan. Planned amenities include a members-only bar and lounge, game room, and gym.

A STORY OF EVOLUTION

For over 20 years, since the opening of the Pacifico Course, Punta Mita Golf has been a living, breathing masterpiece. A course of constant evolution that maintains its original essence at heart.

Set on 380 acres of peninsula bordered by both the Pacific Ocean and beautiful Banderas Bay, the private Punta Mita Golf Club is open exclusively to Club Punta Mita Members and their guests, and guests of the Four Seasons and St. Regis resorts.

From now until December, when Pacifico Golf Course intends to open for the X Punta Mita Gourmet & Golf Classic, the talented golf team will continue to work diligently to preserve and rejuvenate a place where, so many of us have so many great memories, and where many more memories await us all.
