Retired officer Pyotr arrives in the Siberian taiga to prospect for gold. He arrives with little hope and sincerely considering himself a failure. He manages to find the gold and fight off the uninvited guests.
A helicopter is scheduled to take him and his neighbors, the members of a mining crew, back to the mainland, but the night before the flight, bandits attack the crew, celebrating the end of the season. Retreating, they take the daughter of the crew's chairman hostage. The seriously wounded chairman asks Pyotr to save the girl. And this is only the beginning of the story. The real story, filled with chases and adventures, is yet to come.
