I built a giant RC airplane and took it to Rudyard Lake to see if it could fly like the Caspian Sea Monster, the world’s largest ground effect aircraft. This experimental RC ekranoplan is part RC seaplane, part RC flying boat. It uses ground effect instead of flying high like a normal RC plane. The maiden test flight shows the challenges of RC plane water takeoff, stability, and speed as this unusual radio-controlled aircraft tries to lift off the lake surface.
