Why Are Traditional Private Blog Networks Dangerous?
We've seen Google hitting spammy PBN (private blog network) sites with manual penalties over the last few weeks. People who invested heavily in that model and did the bare minimum in terms of on page optimisation are hurting badly right now.

Plenty of sites could do with a PBN overhaul. They are still useful, but only if done in the right way. It’s so easy to get wrong that we generally recommend people stay away from them in favour of things like Domain Authority Stacking, also known as DAS, as taught by SEO expert Jimmy Kelley. That is a method which utilised highly trusted, high authority websites in a way that causes their targets to rank.
One of the big mental shifts you can do, if you or your boss insists on continuing to use PBNs is to try to rank the private blog network sites. That will give you an SEO boost because you’re getting a link from a ranking site. It will also help push down some of your competition, increase your business’s visibility in the search engines and solidify your network. What it will also do is make you focus on creating quality, useful, engaging content that draws people in and gets them to take action.
You can make money from your PBN sites as well. Either put up some advertising on them, or better yet, add your offer to them like you did with your money site. That way, they pay for themselves and you can keep adding to your list without financial difficulty. Sure it takes more work than just slapping a website together and grabbing some spun content, but it is worth it. Just ask any of the hundreds of thousands of people who are facing their entire networks being taken down right now. Not just are they losing the sites, but they’re losing the search engine rankings that are bringing in the money they need to replace the lost websites.
Any Perth SEO company still using PBNs in the old way is just going to get walked over. There are a lot of us here using far better techniques and the old ways just don’t cut it any more.
