This FEATool Multiphysics (https://www.featool.com) FEA simulation examines transient cooling for shrink fitting of a two part assembly. A tungsten rod heated to 84 degrees C has been inserted into a -10 degrees chilled steel frame part. The assembly is cooled due to convection through a surrounding fluid kept at 17 degrees. The resulting temperature distribution is shown as a function of time in order to establish the point at which the maximum temperature has reached 70 degrees.

More details, multiphysics simulation toolbox, presented simulation model example, are all free to download from the FEATool homepage and https://www.featool.com/doc/heat_tran...
