On October 17th, 2006 at the world championships in Aarhus, Denmark, the Canadian men's gymnastics team reached new heights, placing 5th in the qualification and sixth in the final. Led by 2004 Olympic champion Kyle Shewfelt, it was the first time a Canadian team had ever reached the final at a world championship and stands as Canada's best-ever team result at a word championship. Other members of the team were: Nathan Gafuik, Adam Wong, Brandon O'Neill, Ken Ikeda and David Kikuchi.
