Following the success of Top Gun: Maverick, there has been talk of a possible third film. However, producer Jerry Bruckheimer has stated that they are currently focused on enjoying the success of the second movie, and he has no idea about the possibility of a threequel. Director Joseph Kosinski has also questioned if there is a compelling enough story for another film, although he believes that the character of Maverick still has potential. Top Gun: Maverick had a significant amount of footage, with 800 to 814 hours of total footage, which was overwhelming for the film's editor Eddie Hamilton. Despite the pressure of delivering a sequel after 30 years, Hamilton labeled and organized the footage to ensure the final product was awesome from beginning to end.
