How to learn e-Foil surfing? The great learning video on electric hydrofoil surfing by Wave-Lovers!

Before entering the water, make yourself aware of your surroundings and get comfortable with your riding location, such as water ways, buoys, other water users, and potential obstacles. While riding, respect local rules and regulations for water activities and always keep a safe distance to rocks, buoys, or other obstacles. When entering or leaving the water, make sure there's enough depth underneath the e-foiling board to not damage the wings or mast.

In general we're choosing a power level on the remote that fits our physical build. The goal is to find exactly the right power level to get us gliding on top of the water without foiling or flying above the water's surface. This way we can pull the remote's trigger completely and focus fully on our balance and steering. Advanced riders later use the trigger to play and do maneuvers and stunts.

Quick tip at this point: try to control the trigger with your finger's joint and not the finger tip to allow for a more sensitive thrust control and pull or release the trigger progressively and not abruptly to prevent highsiders and nosedives.

We start off laying flat on the board to get moving safe and sound. The board itself doesn't have enough flotation to support us kneeling or standing right from the beginning, therefore we need speed to stabilize us and allow us to change positions on the board.

We start off laying flat on the board to get moving safe and sound. The board itself doesn't have enough flotation to support us kneeling or standing right from the beginning, therefore we need speed to stabilize us and allow us to change positions on the board.

As soon as we're comfortable riding like this, gaining speed and doing our first curves and maneuvers, we can get on the knees and put our upper body upright. This increases our center of gravity and allows for easier steering by moving or tilting our upper body. Make sure to have your knees on one line with the boards side handles to ensure you're positioned well balanced on the board. Spread your arms while doing curves to get a better understanding of how the upper body's tilting steers the board.

After riding confidently on the knees, we can stand up on the board while riding by placing one foot upfront and pushing us up with our hands if necessary. Important here is that we always max out the board's speed in the according power level by pulling the trigger completely.

Note here, that there are different standing positions on the board based on different riding styles and skill sets. Some riders prefer to stand parallel like on a skateboard, others like to stand diagonal using the board's entire width for more side stability.

Once we're confident riding upright at a constant speed on the water surface, we can start practicing the so-called touchdowns or dolphin ride. This means, we're lifting off the water surface by leaning backwards on the board and then forcing it back down by leaning forward on the board so we're loading either our front or our back foot.

Next off, we're increasing the remote's power level slightly to allow for higher thrust and acceleration and also to get the board flying quicker. We're now practicing the same up and down board movements above the water, without touching the surface.

In case of any balance loss or insecurities while riding or when you notice that you're falling, make sure to jump off the board only to the sides or the rear. Never jump in front of the board as it might hit you with its remaining momentum. For example, if you do a so-called highsider and the board kicks you off to the back, simply fall off and don't force yourself to jump into another direction.

As soon as you fall off the board into the water, the remote will automatically lock the board for safety reasons and to prevent it from riding off without you. Simply get on the board again, unlock it with the remote control and continue riding.

E-Foiling is a great way to spend some time out on the water while practicing this new and innovative water sport above the waves.

Thanks for flying with us! We hope you enjoyed the ride and to foil with you again soon! WaveLovers, the fun starts here!
