Charge DJI Phantom 2 battery in car using LiPo charger and custom cable
Video showing my setup to charge the DJI Phantom 2 battery in the car using a simple LiPo charger and a custom cable.
The inspiration for the Phantom battery cable is from this excellent video • Charge Your Phantom 2/Vision Battery with ... . I added a plastic piece on one side to prevent it from being inserted the wrong way.
I already had the SkyRC IMAX B6AC LiPo charger but even buying one would make this much cheaper than the DJI original car charger. And this setup also act as a second charger plugged into AC at home.
As an alternative one could use the DC-only version of the charger (SkyRC IMAX B6). This is cheaper and smaller but need a separate AC adapter to be plugged into the wall socket at home.
The charger 12V input cable was made by adding a cigarette-lighter-connector to one of the IMAX B6 supplied cables.
Theoretically charging at 8A (1.5C) could give a charging time around 40 minutes but so far i have only tested in 3A (0.6C).
