With the release of Prepar3D v3, a small change occurred in the SDK, that went almost unnoticed by most developers, indeed missed by the community as a whole. It wasn’t until the release of Prepar3D v4 when it became more common for developers to install content to our Documents\Prepar3D vX Add-Ons folder instead of into the core of the sim.

In this mini-series, Novawing24 takes a look at why this option is useful and important for users and gives a tutorial on how to do it yourself; even for add-ons that aren’t originally designed to follow this format.

In the second episode, we tackle a wider range of concepts. Firstly we use non-installer based add-ons (like those found in a zip file); while secondly looking at how to use the Add-Ons protocol while installing the files to a different drive / folder from your Documents folder.
