Day trip from Positano - Monte Faito
A day trip by car from Positano to Monte Faito, one of the tallest mountains in the area.
To get there you are best off using a GPS. You can drive towards Naples and take various turnings off to the right that will lead you up through Arola, Moiano and other mountain villages, winding higher until you reach the very top.
Stop off at the Bar Belvedere for fantastic views across Vesuvius, Sorrento and Naples. Work up higher through the chestnut forests and stop for a walk near the abandoned stables (theres a small kiosk with horses painted on it by the side of the road, follow the pathway to the left of the kiosk).
Drive up to the very top where the road ends and you will find a small church with more breathtaking views.
In the winter you can often find snow, dress warmly!
There are a couple of places to eat lunch up there but we found them all closed for winter. We drove back down to Vico Equense and ate at the Agriturismo di Nonno Luigino, which was very good!
