I have an Asus PRIME Z690-P D4 computer running Ubuntu. My two monitors are being driven from the on board video (no graphics card).
Since this M/Board uses the Intel 500 Chipset it will not not boot in UEFI with CSM when the video is the one on board. This is because chipset does not support UEFI VBIOS graphic card, hence the integrated graphics mode does not support legacy boot and CSM option becomes non-configurable.
VMWare on Linux installed and compiled correctly.
I want to install Windows guest and I set the Windows ISO during the configuration stage. Problem is that the CD icon has a red X on it when I initialise the machine and the install process never starts.
I tried both Windows 11 and Windows 7 ISOs.
Does anyone know if there is a workaround to boot from the ISO?
------------------------ UPDATE
I reformated the hardware and installed Windows 11. Installed VMWare for Windows and tried to install the same guest OSs using the same ISOs.
It worked.
