If OneDrive says your storage is full, the safest first step is not deleting randomly. Microsoft’s own support says to start from Manage your OneDrive storage, where you can see what is using space and empty the Recycle Bin. Microsoft also notes that deleted items still need to be removed from the Recycle Bin before that space is freed up.

In this guide, I’ll show you the safe cleanup path: check what is actually taking space, sort your largest files first, avoid deleting anything you have not verified, empty the Recycle Bin, and use OneDrive Files On-Demand if your real problem is local PC storage rather than cloud storage. Microsoft says Files On-Demand lets you keep files in OneDrive while saving local disk space on your computer.
