QJackCtl (frontend for Jack sound server)
Hydrogen (creating drum pattern)
QTractor (recording, syncing and mixing the tracks)
Qsynth (midi synthesizer , used with usb keyboard)
Rakarrack (Guitar effects)
Video:
Blender 2.5 (video sequencing)
WinFF (video encoding before sequencing)
XVidCap (capture screen video: it gave me no issues with qtractor now)
Avidemux 2.5.4 (video encoding, specifically remapping fps to correct small but really annoying timing issues)
Instrument Effects:
Bass: compressor (2:1 preset) + chorus (chorus1 preset) + flanger (flanger 1 preset)
Melodic guitar (electric chord one): CleanChord Preset
Acoustic guitar (...): I made 2 tracks with 1 input :
Acoustic guitar 1 : Quasi Acoustic preset with no equalization (same tone with some chorus and very small reverb)
Acoustic guitar 2: Acoustic Chorus preset (brighter tone)
Pick guitar (top left one): Chorus (Chorus 1 preset) + Reverb (Cathedral 1 preset) with TIME parameter at 40.
-Synth: Standard Qsynth settings, program 51: Synth Strings 2
-Piano solo: Standard Qsynth settings, program 2: Grand Yamaha
some comments:
The acoustic guitar's strings were new so they became a little bit flat as I was recording. In my opinion it's not a big deal but I would like some feedback.
The actual song has different strumming patterns and some more guitar picking
In the making of this video I noticed that when fixing timing mismatches It's way more useful to remap the FPS of the video rather than trying to match speed or length
