The first and last purely British-built supersonic Fighter and Interceptor, this hugely powerful aircraft was a potent symbol of the Cold War and was designed to be on high readiness to launch at a few minutes' notice. The Lightning's extreme power resulted in quite a small flying range, giving rise to the oft quoted joke, "When does a lightning become fuel critical?" Answer: "As soon as its engines are started!"
The Mk.6 Lightning was the pinnacle of the breed and is the mark which will be featured in this high-speed add-on due to be released in 2012.
