A simple Python utility script for capturing camera images and extracting text through a Streamlit UI interface.
This project features an interactive Streamlit app that allows users to access their device camera directly from the browser, capture an image, preview it instantly, and perform Optical Character Recognition (OCR) on black text over white paper.
Users can also adjust the threshold dynamically to optimize text extraction. Optionally, captured images can be downloaded as .jpg files.
This app demonstrates how to integrate hardware input (camera) with image processing and OCR in a clean, responsive web interface using minimal code.
Features:
📸 Capture images using your PC or mobile camera directly in the browser
🧾 Extract text from captured images using OCR (pytesseract + OpenCV)
⚙️ Adjustable threshold slider to improve OCR accuracy depending on lighting conditions
💾 Optionally download captured images as .jpg files
🖼️ Instantly preview both the original and processed images
🧱 Easy-to-extend structure for additional image processing or AI features
⚡ Built with Streamlit for quick, interactive web deployment
This script is part of the Simple Utilities Python Scripts series.
