Best of 2020 | by Rhode Island Wedding Photographer Brave Hearts Photography
This was my 7th year as a professional photographer, but this year was like no other. In March I thought my season had ended before it even began when the Coronavirus pandemic put a stop to all non-essential activities (like photography and weddings). My son was back at home with me for 4 months, and I made photos of him during the lockdown while trying to virtually help my clients postpone or cancel their weddings. It was hard financially and emotionally. I wasn't sure when I'd be able to get back to doing what I love and I felt so terrible for my clients.
Once the weather warmed up, we were able to do some socially distant/outdoor photoshoots for families, new babies, and expectant couples. These were some of the best portrait sessions I've ever been a part of. I think everyone was just so happy to be doing anything normal again, and it really showed in the moments I was able to capture.
As the pandemic wore on, and things slowly started to open back up, several couples decided they didn't want to wait and planned smaller safer weddings. These "micro-weddings" were different. There were masks and hand-sanitizer and virtual wedding guests. But these weddings were also exactly the same as they always have been at the core. They were intimate, special, and frankly put I LOVED THEM!
