When I started working in tech as a software engineer I assumed that I'm the one making the big bucks. In absolute terms that's definitely true, the compensation is great as a software engineer, but soon enough with some experience and gaining exposure to other roles I realized that they really don't fall much behind the compensation of a SWE job, and can also exceed it.
I was a bit surprised because engineers usually have the tendency to think they do more important work than others working in common roles (or it's just me lol), but friends of mine who I worked with in the past, who were not engineers, divulged later on how their compensation is structured and how they make as much as and can even exceed the pay of SWEs in the company.
In this video I talk about 3 such common roles in tech that can pay you roughly as much and also exceed the compensation of software engineers in tech companies.
