Firsts of Technology
While technology is an indispensable source of growth for today's capitalist system, it has reached such a speed of development that even human beings may have difficulty keeping up with this development. Here is a nostalgic list from the times when technology was slower.
10. First Mobile Phone 1985
Many of you are probably asking yourself this question. How we lived before mobile phones. Well, I'm asking myself, I'm broke. The mobile phone, which is an indispensable part of our lives, was first introduced to the market in 1985 by Motorola company, the DynaTAC 8000X Model you see in the photo above. As can be seen from the picture, even though it had the consistency of a brick that could only be thrown onto the fields during matches in today's conditions, you had to pay $ 4000 to buy this phone in those days. (I say yuhhh) The first use of a mobile phone in Turkey took place on February 23, 1994, when Tansu Çiler called Süleyman Demirel. Would you watch him enter our country?! It's like a 3rd world country. The Prime Minister is calling the President... Anyway, we should be thankful for this.
9. The First Helicopter
When you see this title, I'm sure most of you are wondering, "What is this, should helicopters be included in the list of first technologies?" I thought I saw you making complaints like "It's like a helicopter picks us up from our apartment every morning." But why not get on a helicopter one day? Maybe you too can admire this magnificent technology when you get on it. Helicopter is the most difficult technological device to use in the world. It was actually Leonardo Da Vinci who made the first drawings resembling this complex and difficult technological device. But the plans and design of the first real helicopter were made by E.R. on January 6, 1905. Made by Mumford. Its production was carried out by William Deny and Brothers, one of the Scottish shipbuilders.
8. First Car 1885
Although the car is an indispensable part of today's world, it has a very important place as it is an indicator of status in the eyes of the Turkish society, especially by taking the place of the horse in the Horse-Avrat-Weapon trilogy. It must be admitted that the invention of the car was very healthy for the horse population. Imagine if there were horses instead of the current car, could we raise horses for this society?
It started in China in 1672 when Ferdinand Verbiest first designed a steam-powered car for the Chinese Emperor, and later, as a result of unsuccessful attempts by engineers in many different countries over the years, Karl Benz succeeded in building the first modern working car in 1985. In 1903, Henry Ford introduced the concept of "car mass production" to the world.
7. First Refrigerator 1856
What if it had a refrigerator? I'm sure many of you have wondered what the food would be like, how we would store it. But the most important thing for me is that there will be no ice cream! That's why I would like to express my gratitude to dear Karl Lind for succeeding in making the first electric refrigerator in 1877. Even though the methyl ether he used in the refrigerator he built was extremely explosive, we sincerely commemorate him for his efforts in the beginning of this work. In the following years, Balzer Von Platen and Carl Munters jointly designed the first refrigerator using safe freon gas. I send my bravo to them too.
6. First Washing Machine 1907
The Washing Machine was invented by Alva John Ficher in 1907. Alva John, to those who ask whether it is a man or a woman; You must be kidding! Of course, Alva John is a woman.
The woman got tired of doing laundry for years and said, "I have to stop this and do a favor to the women of the world." O women; Bow respectfully to Alva John, otherwise even a manicure wouldn't save you. Çitile my father, Çitile!!!
5. First Electronic Computer 1946
As you can see from the picture, it is not the type you can put in your home. It covers an area of exactly 167 square meters. So, according to Turkish standards, 4 rooms are the same as a living room. Although the name of this giant machine, which also consumes 180 KW of electricity, is ENIAC, the purpose of the development of this model is World War II. It was to support the army in World War II. Wars have always been a factor that has led to the advancement of technology. It's a dire outcome, but it's true.
