Faith Impacted by Adversity
We have a good heart. Not like the path. It's a good heart. A desire for the truth. We hear the truth. We recognize the truth. And want to possess the truth. And there's joy. But the truth will make demands. Our Lord himself tells us, anyone who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me. Anyone who loves son and daughter more than me is not worthy of me. Whoever loves his life is not worthy of me. Whoever does not take up his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. The truth requires adversity for it to flourish. And so these were told, the seed, the word of God that falls on good soil, but with no depth. Good soil, those are ready and willing, but lacking depth, that it withers in the face of adversity.
