In this video I’m finally testing the Viltrox 9mm f/2.8 on Fujifilm X-mount out in the real world on the X-T4 at one of my favourite beaches. We’ll look at how this ultra-wide handles landscapes, architecture and vlogging, go through real autofocus performance (including a user-error pulsing episode and a proper AF test), and see what you can do with the 13 cm minimum focus distance for close-up, wide-angle shots.
I’ll also show you distortion and “cathedral effect” torture tests, horizon comparisons against my 24–70, sharpness charts, vignetting and chromatic aberration, plus some tips for shooting with a 9mm if you’ve never used an ultra-wide before.
