SIU Apprenticeship VS. Paying out of Pocket
It's a simple decision to me. I'd rather have nothing out of pocket and my credentials within a year and half and be at no loss. Paying out of pocket will take you twice as long to achieve the same result as the SIU Apprentice Program and COST YOU MONEY. What if the maritime industry isn't for you? It'll take you at least 2 years, nearly 3 to get your A.B. or Oiler credential and money out of your pocket for a career your not even sure about. Where the SIU Apprenticeship will be a year and half, no money out of pocket for classes, you'll have made your monies worth and then some in the 3 plane tickets it will cost you. And then you don't even have to sail if you don't want. You'll have your credentials with no lost. Paying out of pocket will be a loss right at the door with no significant credentials.
