In our first web development lesson, we learn about using the .htaccess file to link to a custom bootstrap 404 page that we have created to handle broken links (mainly from search engines) to our website. When moving or updating a website, you submit the new website to be crawled, and it usually happens quite quickly. The only problem is that it takes quite some time for the old websites’ links to disappear from the search engine. The problem with that is that when users visit these old links, they will be sent to a “Not Found” page which has no stylesheet. This looks unprofessional and doesn’t give a link to the new site.
