Li Wang played Mephisto Waltz No.1 by Liszt

The first of Liszt's four Mephisto waltzes had its origin in an orchestral work written in 1860. This describes two scenes from the Faust of the poet Nikolaus Lenau, the second of which is subtitled The Dance in the Village Inn. The scene portrayed is that of a wedding celebration, where the villagers are innocently dancing. Faust enters with Mephistopheles. He is encouraged to seduce a village girl by the diabolically virtuoso playing of Mephistopheles, who laughs demonically as the merrymaking turns into an orgy. Over the ending of the piano version which Liszt made around the same time as the orchestral original, he wrote the memorable words: "They sink into the roaring ocean of their own lust."
