Back in May of 2020, an exploit was found allowing Minecraft players to add 4 invalid characters to their usernames, marking the first known invalid exploit in over 5 years. It was patched within days of becoming known to the public, but the trick recently resurfaced on XBOX Live, and by proxy, Minecraft Bedrock Edition, and tests with these names yield some very interesting results. In this episode of Minecraft Uncovered, we explore this mysterious Unicode exploit, how and why it works, and what it could mean for the future of Minecraft usernames.
