All that is required is Root permission and "Chamelophon" App that can generate random imei for you or you input yours.
After sending command, just put your mobile on Airplane mode for 10 seconds and put off Airplane mode and you imei will change to the new one you inserted.
This method has also been tested to fix imei invalid/null if granted root permission
