Jeff Page is a multidisciplinary visual artist born and raised in Denver. Page describes his work as DIY, handmade, and funny. His piece “THROAT CHAQRA THERAPY'', included in the “Breakthroughs'' exhibition at MCA Denver explores the theme of shame, a universal human experience, and was inspired by a connection he discovered between a thyroid cancer diagnosis he received 10 years ago and being bullied as a kid for the way he talked. In this interview, Page explains how he uses clichéd, and mainstream gay culture terms to create a tool for therapy that subverts the shame he experienced as a youth to empower his own and hopefully others’ healing process.
