Nowadays my tools of choice are After effects along with trapcode plugins, Element 3D, and Cinema 4D. But back in a previous life I used to be a web designer and used flash a whole lot as a means to create motion graphics, back in an era when video on the web was a thing of the future and animated gifs were becoming a thing of the past. Back in that time I used to be really moved and interested by the work of some random dude called Joshua Davis, He was all about creating marvelous designs generated by clever actionscript. At the time, he was the only person doing this kind of stuff and was a pioneer unlocking new possibilities merging art with math and computer science. He thaught me that experimenting is crucial to evolving. Over time I kind of lost track of my old heroes and inspirations, people like Eric Jordan at 2Advanced, Webagent007, any many more...
So here is a piece inspired by Josh's art, whom I am very glad that nostalgia brought me to revisit lately, his latest work is still, (and more than ever) very impressive and unique. I was curious to experiment and see how Particular would handle those types of digital painting I saw in one of his videos. The result is neat little particular digital painting system that stills deserve much improvement for the render time. Glow and sharpen were added in post. Have a jab at the project files and feel free to play around with it.
