TGO Challenge 2022 | Part 3 | Loch Chiarain to Blair Atholl | Backpacking in Scotland
The TGO Challenge is an annual self-supported Scottish coast to coast backpacking adventure, following a self-devised route. It is about experiencing the remote parts of Scotland that can only be reached on foot. Whilst not a competitive event, it can be made as difficult as you're prepared to do - you still get the same t-shirt at the end.
Our 2022 route took us from Lochailort, a stop on the Fort William to Mallaig rail line, to Dunnottar Castle near Stonehaven, on the east coast. 338km (210 miles) of walking over 15 days. Weather, difficult terrain, ground to make up, foot problems, we had to work for it...
