More about the speaker:
Catherine Hayes received her PhD from the Chemistry Department of the National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG) in 2009, on structural bioinformatics of protein-ligand interactions. Concurrently, she worked with the Centre for BioAnalytical Sciences (CBAS) on a glycan mass spectrometry project, before moving to the Biomedicine Department, University of Gothenburg to work with Niclas Karlsson on the structural elucidation of mucin type O-linked oligosaccharides. While in Gothenburg she also had project exchanges with the groups of Pauline Rudd (NIBRT, Dublin), Nicki Packer (Macquarie University, Sydney) and Frederique Lisacek (SIB, Geneva).
After a break of some years she returned to the field, as a biocurator of GlyConnect (2020), again in the group of F. Lisacek. She is currently involved in biocuration, annotation, semantic web technologies and development of tools in both the glycomic and proteomic field.
