This time we'll talk about highway driving, focusing on winding roads full of curves. We filmed the video on the Mil Cumbres highway, located near the city of Morelia.
First, to take a curve correctly, we must calculate the speed at which we will enter it—a moderate speed at which our vehicle handles well and, above all, at which the driver—that is, us—feels comfortable. The vehicle must be in gear; never leave the car in neutral while going through a curve. This causes a significant loss of stability and can lead to a scare. As I mentioned before, the brake pedal should be applied before the curve, when we calculate the entry speed, so that once we are in the curve, we can accelerate slightly to gain more traction and, consequently, stability. The line through the curve should be smooth, avoiding at all times abrupt changes of direction; also avoid changing gears in the curve, these should be done beforehand using the heel-toe technique preferably.
