Cosmetic threads in SolidWorks are visual thread indicators that look good on screen for your design, but can cause serious problems when it comes to manufacturing the parts.
It’s important to note that cosmetic threads are visual only — they don’t alter the model geometry. When these are active and you export your DXF or flat pattern, SolidWorks can include that thread outline in the export.
