Improve Your Video Lighting on a Budget!
You’ve got yourself a camera, a lens, and maybe even a microphone. What’s the next thing to level up your production quality? LIGHTING!
UPDATE: After a little over a year, I did manage to damage the part on the light that tightens the angle. While the light still works and I still recommend it on a budget, I did upgrade to the FalconEyes RX-18:

Lighting is one of the big things that separates amateur looking results from professional work, so however you approach it, it’s always a good idea to spend a little extra time on your lighting design.

It also comes in a two pack, which is cool, but it’s pretty big, so not everyone will have room for two of them.
Pros:
•Low cost, comes with everything you need
•GREAT quality of light
•Double diffusion
•No flickering/humming
•Low operating temperature
Cons:
•Lots of plastic parts (definitely not a light you want to travel with regularly)
•No dimming (although there are three selectable output levels)
•Lightweight stand
This is a 24 x 36 inch soft box from Fovitec. I typically keep this light bouncing off the wall/ceiling to make it even softer and more defused, but it works great up close too for a different style/mood. And that’s really what lighting is all about. Just like your camera and lens, lighting is a tool to help better communicate your idea or tell your story.
So if you’re looking for a good video light, or wondering how to up the quality of your videos, I think this will be a de-LIGHTful addition to your gear arsenal.
