We start with a nice intro to some helo action in AE:CA since we will be taking on some rotary wing craft basic training.
But first things first. The "PRO" flight model for helos is really awkward, especially with a gamepad without analog buttons (PS2 Dualshock controller has analog buttons - all of them, besides SELECT and START). Most notably the changes between PRO and STANDARTD flight mode is that you will get stabilized collective control with STANDARD mode. Trying to control it with digital input and PRO flight mode is very innacurate and easily leads to pilot induced oscillation. So my solution is to use STANDARD flight mode with tapping those throttle/collective buttons for fine collective control. Cyclic behaves mostly the same between the flight modes.
Still the helicopter flight model isn't that convincing as the fixed wing aircraft flight model in this game. Nevertheless it's a nice addition to the series - previous games didn't had heliopters.
