The coin is made of aluminum bronze. Ribbed edge with many vertical notches. The front and back of the coin have a protruding edging around the circumference.
On the obverse in the middle there is a large depiction of the coat of arms of the USSR of the 1923 model with 6 bandages of a ribbon on ears of wheat (according to the number of languages of the then union republics).
The coat of arms is simplified and has no text on the ribbon. Around the coat of arms along the piping from left to right stretches the inscription: "PROLETARIANS OF ALL COUNTRIES, UNITE!".
The inscription is separated from the coat of arms by a solid line, the beginning and end of which has a small curl.
At the bottom of the coin is the name of the country - the USSR with dots after each letter.
On the reverse, there is a large number "5" at the top, indicating the denomination, below it - the word "KOPEEK".
Below - the year of issue - "1934", even lower there is a round dot. On the sides along the edge are two wheat ears, crossed at the bottom.
The stalks of ears are continued, run along the edging in the upper part of the coin and are joined together. There are 7 sections along the stems, consisting of 2 points.
