Kontakt Snapshots Overview - Creating Tracks
This quick tutorial shares how to save and load Native Instruments Kontakt snapshots. It also explains why and how you might want to use them.
Kontakt snapshots functionality was added in the 5.4.1 update and, although quite simple on the surface, this one tool can save you a ton of time, space and and really streamline your workflows in this robust sampler. Think of Kontakt snapshots as presets that you can create within any virtual instrument to save your parameter settings and recall them again later with a single click. Prior to this feature being introduced, we had to save an entire instance of a virtual instrument to save specific parameter settings for later use. This is obviously not efficient and can quickly get out of hand when using larger Kontakt instruments.
The new Kontakt snapshots are slim, quick-loading and tied directly to the instrument that created it. This means that you only ever browse the snapshots relevant to the instrument you happen to be using at any one point in time. In other words, you won't even see snapshots created for other sampler instruments. This keeps your entire collection of Kontakt snapshots very manageable. You can save as many as you like, delete them whenever you want and even make updates to them by using the overwrite feature.
