Major Trailer Tip (especially Boat trailers)

My new Nitro boat Trailstar trailer has these Dexter axles seal caps. These have been coming apart on me. So if you hav a trailer of any kind that has these Dexter axles/caps, like mine, these caps are really bad quality plastic. Now if you take them off to grease and put them back on you’re supposed to just snug them up. If you tighten too tight you’ll hairline crack the housing at the threads and if you don’t get them tight enough they won’t seal or they’ll just come off. (I’m making these statements based on experience. Plus I was told by another service center that they had a recall on them plastics because it was happening but I’ve never heard or seen of the recall)
Nonetheless I stopped at my local Bass Pro Tracker Marine dealer to get a replacement one day and discovered, with the help of a fantastic lady at the service desk, there are metal replacement ones! These are from another manufacturer, as mentioned in video, are about a 1/4 of the cost! I installed one as I mentioned and it’s been working great. I thought I would change the other ones out only if they broke but a week later another one broke off, as you see in the video, and the other ones have hairline cracks so they’re all getting replaced with the new metal ones at the time of the video. I was in the parking lot at Tracker Marine in Springfield Missouri and was very welcomed.
So again save your trailer and save the lake. Don’t contaminate it and don’t burn your bearings up, or possibly your axles, plus do this upgrade for less money as well
