Get ready to dive into the world of GTM! In this video, we'll guide you through the creation and implementation process of Google Tag Manager for your website. From creating the account, to placing the script in the correct place in the code, you'll know everything you need to get started! 💻👨💻
How to Set Up Google Tag Manager 🧐
A new container is created by default when you create a new account.
1. In Tag Manager, click Accounts -⟩ Create account.
2. Enter an account name and optionally indicate whether you'd like to share data anonymously with Google and others.
3. Enter a descriptive container name and select the type of content: Web, AMP, Android, or iOS. In our case we choose the Web.
4. Click Create.
5. Review the Terms of Service and click Yes if you agree to those terms.
6. Place the ⟨script⟩ code snippet in the ⟨head⟩ of your web page's HTML output, preferably as close to the opening ⟨head⟩ tag as possible, but below any dataLayer declarations.
7. Place the ⟨noscript⟩ code snippet immediately after the ⟨body⟩ tag in your HTML output.
To ensure that tags do not fire twice, remove from your code any hard coded tags that have been migrated to your Tag Manager container.
