Not all gardeners embrace hostas right away, but once you've noticed one and added it to your garden, you'll likely find it hard to resist planting more. That's how it was for me.
I haven't counted how many hostas I have in my garden now. Let me just say there are a lot.
I love hostas because they're resistant to almost all known diseases, aren't affected by insects, overwinter beautifully, are always decorative, don't mind being replanted at any time, are indispensable as border plants, and grow in both shade and sun.
I'll tell you how I choose a planting site and share my observations over the years.
Unfortunately, it's not just us who love hostas; slugs and snails do too.
To avoid this, I recommend choosing varieties with tough leaves; slugs are less likely to attack them. These tend to be larger varieties.
