SMART and SMARTER are acronyms that can be used to help support setting or establishing a new goal, or target. By using the S.M.A.R.T. and S.M.A.R.T.E.R. process you can improve the quality and effectiveness of your target setting, whether that be for yourself or for a team member of colleague. SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time bound, however, as explained in the video, some of the elements of the acronym can be changed and altered to get different results. SMARTER also allows for reflection and understanding of what worked and what didn't as a result of your goal setting. Both the SMART and SMARTER methods are well-known approaches that increase your chances of success considerably.
