ams OSRAM is a semiconductor company focused on light emitters, sensors, and optical components. They have a lot of labs scattered around the world. Some of these came from acquisitions they made. ams OSRAM conducted an analysis that revealed their labs were all using different hardware and software for their testing. They decided to standardize their labs’ software and hardware to be more efficient, reduce the need for coding, and more easily define their processes and their data. For software, they chose the two most popular programming environments, LabVIEW and Python. For hardware, they chose PXI because its modularity met most of their needs. ams OSRAM was also a beta user of MeasurementLink™ software, which helped them seamlessly transition between Python and LabVIEW and will help in the future should they add support for C#.
