Gigafactory Texas! This is where Model Y’s, and Cyber Truck production happens and soon, the Next Generation Car!
I tried to delay the start of my flight today due to foggy conditions, and when I arrived it was clear enough to fly, but about half way through, the fog rolled back in, so I adjusted my flight path and altitude to compensate, and at one point had to stop and wait about 30 minutes to resume the final part of the flight, but I did get in a full duration video!
The two biggest news highlights from today were the obvious movement of Cybertrucks off site and the corresponding reduction in inventory, and the extensive and rapid progress on the south end extension construction area.
In the video introduction, I discuss several key construction permits for Giga Texas that help answer some of the mystery projects underway at the site today, most importantly, what is the mystery structure being built on the SE corner of the new extension?
The permits I am referencing were filed with Travis County and the site itself (link below) has hundreds of permits linked to Tesla and Giga Texas. These include the new SE corner “mystery structure”, the work going on at the east side of the casting machine structure, roof re-work and ventilation system on the Body-in-White (BIW) section of the main factory and the crash test facility.

Some of the highlights from today include:
The south end extension shows major progress in multiple areas, including window installation and the installation of steel supports showing the window design for the west side of the extension. Large portions of the ground slab under the new steel structure have been poured, while additional form and rebar work continues throughout this area.
Cranes were busy in the open section between the new and old structure, adding steel and lifting decking materials onto the newly- assembled steel sections. On the roof, crews were installing another large section of insulation panels and preparing the white weatherproof membrane for installation on top of the insulation.
The mystery structure on the southeast side has been identified as a structural platform for cooling, and crews were busy finishing up the form installation and rebar for the roof of this structure. Some new steel beams were delivered near this structure, and we see rectangular forms for openings beginning to emerge on the roof of this structure.
On the north side of the casting machine section of the factory, crews were busy in the area where concrete was removed near two manhole access covers and concrete underground vaults. Small trenches and excavation work was underway to (most likely) prepare for the new line of conduits being constructed at the south end of the electrical switchyard.
The east side of casting was equally busy, primarily with hundreds of castings and casting racking systems, but also work in and around the new foundation construction sites for the baghouse filtration systems we discussed in the video introduction.
The Boring Company crews were busy again today preparing for more tunneling, and we see three liner trucks are now on site, one of which was recharging. These liner trucks are used to move the concrete tunnel linings into the tunnel and to the automatic machine that picks up and placed the tunnel liners. Another interesting fact about these liner trucks is that they are fully electric and use Tesla motors and batteries for their operation!
