Linux .desktop manifests can tell Linux how your program should look, where it should live, and what your program can do. You can use these manifest to select the icon, description, and tool tips of your program. They can add keywords to your program. You can select an icon for your program in these manifests. These manifests tell Linux which desktops (XFCE, LXDE, MATE, etc.) they should be displayed in. These manifests can even define the category under which you should have your program listed under. Use these manifests to tell Linux which file types your program is made to edit, so your program will show up in the right click open as menu of such files. These files are game changers. I show you where to find these in this video.
