We Need to Talk About LaMelo Ball.
LaMelo Ball has been the latest player to be labeled as "empty stats", due in large part to the shortcomings of the Charlotte Hornets organization. The truth is a lot more complicated though, because when LaMelo Ball was fully healthy during the 2021-22 season, he helped them achieve an above .500 record and they made the play-in tournament.
Despite being compared to players like Tyrese Haliburton and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, LaMelo Ball is truly his own player. The Hornets have a long way to go before they're a truly competitive, but with LaMelo operating as the primary facilitator and offensive engine, they have a lot more to work with than a lot of teams in the NBA.
