This is Redfeather from Grep Haxs In this video we will be showing you how to create Gimp animation and then import it into kdenlive
bring up Gimp and go to file click new use your paint brush or pencil with the desired colour
for my example I will draw a simple sun rise and set
once you have finished click on add new layer make the background white and then click OK
then in Gimp go up to the opacity and slightly lower it so you can see the first image
then draw or paint your next image just a bit higher than the last so it is off set slightly
then create another new layer adjusting the opacity and drawing the next image offset higher
keep doing this in Gimp until you have reached the desired amount of images to complete
your animation I found seven to be adequate for my example
once you have created all of your images in Gimp for your animation go to filters go down to animation then down to playback to see a preview of your animation
if you are happy it is then time to save the animation for importing into kdenlive this is the most important step wen saving you only want to see the image your saving
all the other eye groups must be set to off once this is set in Gimp go to file select save for the web
notice how I am starting with the first image
save it as a JPG name it 1 JPG go to where you would like to save it and click save
go to the next image click the eye symbol so you can see it and close the eye symbol of the last image so you can not see it in Gimp
make sure you have the image highlighted you are working with and click file save for the web save it as a JPG naming this time 2 JPG saving it to the same file continue this until all images are saved
once they are all saved close Gimp launch Kdenlive click add clip go to the area you saved your
images to highlight the 1 jpg in the lower left hand corner check box the import image sequence
click open and bring the clip to the time line in Kdenlive notice how small it is and how fast it goes
to adjust this right click on the clip in the project bin go to properties and adjust the frame duration
also you need to delete the first clip before adding the re-sized clip as it wont be auto adjusted
notice the longer clip and the speed change in Kdenlive
