In this video, let’s use the accessibility checker in Canvas to see if we have any accessibility issues with Alt Text or alternative text. When we are in editing mode for a page or an announcement or an assignment in Canvas, we will see a blue circle with a number in it if there are any accessibility issues. If so, click on that accessibility icon. Alt Text helps explain what the image or picture is or means, especially for visually impaired people who use screen-reader software. Screen readers may also be used by neurodivergent people or anyone needing assistive technology to access or understand content. This idea of access-for-all is a premise of universal design.
